Official opening of new Huisman Production Facility in Brazil

On Thursday 16 April, Huisman, the worldwide specialist in lifting, drilling and subsea solutions, officially opened her new production facility in Navegantes, Santa Catarina state, in the south of Brazil. The facility is used for the manufacturing of offshore equipment for the Brazilian market. It is located along the Itajai-Açu river, enabling fast installation of Huisman equipment onboard sea going vessels. The new Huisman production facility was officially opened by Mrs Cristina Pinho, Executive Manager E&P Services at Petrobras.

Huisman’s first ‘Hybrid Boom Crane’ nears completion

In April 2015, Huisman, the worldwide specialist in lifting, drilling and subsea solutions, started with the final factory acceptance testing of its first 900mt Rope Luffing Knuckle Boom Crane, now called the ‘Hybrid Boom Crane’, at the quayside of the Huisman China Production facility in Zhangzhou. The crane was fully assembled in the main assembly hall and upended by Huisman’s 2,400mt Quayside Crane. In the coming weeks, the crane will undergo an intensive factory acceptance testing program, after which it will be shipped to Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan, South Korea. The crane will then be installed, commissioned and tested on board Subsea 7’s Seven Arctic.

On Wednesday 18 February 2015, the Huisman Rope Luffing Knuckle Boom Crane has been awarded the Innovation of the Year award during the Annual Offshore Support Journal Awards 2015. The new hybrid crane is recognized to provide a significant innovation on the design, build and operational aspects of offshore support vessels.

Grupo CBO selects Huisman winch packages for new AHTS vessels

In January 2015, Huisman, the worldwide specialist in lifting, drilling and subsea solutions, and Brazilian shipping company and shipyard group Grupo CBO, signed a contract for the delivery of four anchor handling and towing winch packages for four new Havyard 843 AHTS vessels. The winch packages will be built by Huisman’s new production facility in Navegantes, Brazil, and delivery is planned for 2016 and 2017. The winches will be delivered with 50% Brazilian content. The Havyard designed 843 AHTS vessels will be built by Estaleiro Aliança (2x) and Estaleiro Oceana (2x).

Huisman wins crane order for Maersk's subsea support vessels

In December 2014, Huisman, the worldwide specialist in lifting, drilling and subsea solutions, secured a contract from COSCO (Dalian) Shipyard for the delivery of four customized 400mt Rope Luffing Knuckle Boom Cranes and two 100mt Knuckle Boom Cranes onboard four new subsea support vessels (SSVs) for Maersk Supply Service. The first vessels, Marin Teknikk design MT 6027, are scheduled for delivery in Q4 2016. In addition to Huisman’s long track record as a reliable and innovative subsea crane supplier, Maersk Supply Service selected Huisman due to the benefits offered by this new crane type, and the partnership that developed between the companies which led to a customized crane design.

Huisman introduces the ‘Rope Luffing Knuckle Boom Crane’ at the OTC

In order to provide reliable solutions for subsea installation in increasingly deeper water and offshore construction in severe weather conditions, Huisman, the worldwide specialist in lifting, drilling, and subsea solutions, introduces a new patented crane type during this year’s OTC: the ‘Rope Luffing Knuckle Boom Crane’. These new active heave compensated (AHC) cranes provide unparalleled performance by combining the benefits of a normal Rope Luffing Crane and a traditional Knuckle Boom Crane. As such it offers a high lifting height and a large capacity at outreach. The main hoist system, the patented anti-twist device, and the electric drive system really set these cranes apart from other cranes in the market. The capacities of the new cranes range from 400 up to 1,200 ton and up to 5,000 meter water depth. The first crane of this type, a 900 ton Rope Luffing Knuckle Boom Crane for Subsea 7’s ‘Seven Arctic’, is scheduled for delivery in 2016. A model of this vessel including the crane will be presented at the OTC Huisman booth, no. 2327.

Huisman to build world’s largest cranes

Huisman, the worldwide specialist in lifting, drilling and subsea solutions, has received a Letter of Intent for the delivery of the world’s largest cranes onboard Heerema’s planned new semi-submersible crane vessel. The cranes will have a lifting capacity of 10.000mt at a radius of 48m. Huisman is known for its signature mast crane design. These cranes will however be tub mounted. The two cranes will be built by the Huisman production facility in China. The final decision to build this new semi-submersible crane vessel will be made by Heerema before the end of this year.

On Tuesday morning 11 March, it was announced that Huisman
is nominated for the prestigious King Willem I Award. The Secretary of the King Willem I Foundation, Drs. Gert van der Houwen, personally handed over the nomination to CEO Joop Roodenburg at Huisman Schiedam. Huisman has been nominated in the category “large company” together with another two companies.

High five for Huisman Schiedam!

31 January 2014: Huisman, the worldwide specialist in lifting, drilling and subsea solutions, currently has five new built pipelay systems out on the quayside of their production facility in Schiedam, The Netherlands. These “high five” showcase the latest in pipelay technology and underline the added value of the new production hall for Huisman Schiedam. This 66m high production hall offers the largest indoor lifting capacity in Europe (1,200mt), allowing for the simultaneous indoor assembly, including testing and commissioning, of several products and systems. This allows for fast installation, commissioning and testing onboard.

Another successful installation for Huisman China’s Skyhook

Yesterday, the installation of the 3,000mt Offshore Mast Crane onboard the ‘Lewek Constellation’ was completed by means of Huisman China’s new 2,400mt quayside crane. The quayside crane, also known as the ‘Skyhook’, installed the 3,000mt Offshore Mast Crane in a mere two lifts within a three day period. The vessel will leave Huisman China in April and is due to arrive at Huisman Schiedam mid 2014 for the installation of the 800mt Multi-lay Pipelay Tower. The ‘Skyhook’ further enables Huisman China to install, commission and test large pieces of equipment on a turn-key basis, mitigating project risks.

The “Noble Bully I” was awarded by Shell with this year’s Global Floating Rig of the Year award, recognizing her as the best performing floating rig for Shell worldwide in 2013.The “Noble Bully I” is the first drillship featuring the Huisman Dual Multi Purpose Tower. Huisman was awarded with the contract for the drilling tower, related pipe, riser and BOP handling equipment onboard “Noble Bully I” in 2007.

Schiedam, 25 September 2013: Huisman, the worldwide specialist in lifting, drilling and subsea solutions, has received a first order for their new production facility in Brazil. The new order includes three sets of five cranes, which will be manufactured as soon as construction of the Brazilian production facility is completed in 2014. The sets of cranes are scheduled for delivery between Q3 2015 and Q1 2017.

10 new pipelay equipment orders for Huisman

Schiedam, 12 August 2013: Huisman, the worldwide specialist in lifting, drilling and subsea solutions, has secured new contracts for 10 pipelay systems with various major offshore pipelay contractors. The new contracts include three 550mt Tiltable Lay Systems (TLS) and one 325mt Vertical Lay System (VLS) for Subsea 7, two 650mt TLS and two 340mt VLS for Technip-DOF, one 275mt VLS and one 570mt Multi-lay System for Ceona. The equipment will be built at the various Huisman production facilities in The Netherlands, Czech Republic, China and Brazil. Delivery of these pipelay systems is scheduled between the end of this year and early 2017.

25 June 2013: Today, Huisman, the worldwide specialist in lifting, drilling and subsea solutions, opened the new 380m long quayside at their production facility in Zhangzhou (Fujian), China. Huisman China, a 100% subsidiary of Huisman, has been fully operational since April 2007 and delivers a significant contribution to the overall Huisman engineering and production capacity ever since. The new quayside features a Huisman designed and produced 2,400mt travelling quayside crane which, together with the strong quay structure and the direct deep water access, makes Huisman China well suited for loading and installation of heavy steel constructions onboard large (offshore) vessels.

The new series include cranes with lifting capacities ranging up to 900mt and have been developed to meet the increasing demands of the offshore construction and subsea market. Multiple unique features have been incorporated in the design, which makes these sophisticated cranes suitable for operations in ultra-deep water but also in harsh marine environments. Two orders for the new cranes have been received already.
