The monopiles with a length of approx. 100m have a weight of approx. 1,700mt excluding rigging.
In the RESULT (Enhancing REServoirs in Urban deveLopmenT) project, TNO – together with ENGIE, Huisman Geo and EBN – will be investigating whether an innovative drilling technique can make the production of geothermal heat from thin reservoirs economically feasible. With this project, the consortium wants to demonstrate that the new drilling technique can improve the production from thin reservoirs by 30-100%. The preferred location, which may be suitable for this demonstration, is in the municipality of Zwolle. The final location will be known in 2021. The research project has been positively assessed by the European subsidy programme Geothermica and has received a subsidy decision of a maximum of 5.7 million euros.
Huisman, the worldwide provider of step changing technical solutions, has been awarded a contract by China Merchants Heavy Industry (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd for the delivery of a 250mt Knuckle Boom Crane and a 500mt Towing Winch, to be installed on the upgraded 14,000kW Large Cruise Rescue Vessel of Nanhai Rescue Bureau, part of the Ministry of Transport of the People’s Republic of China.
Huisman, the worldwide provider of step changing technical solutions, announces today that it has been contracted by CSBC Corporation for the delivery of a 4,000mt Offshore Mast Crane (OMC) to be installed on heavy lift vessel Green Jade. The crane will be built at the production facility of Huisman in China and is scheduled for delivery in 2022 for deployment by joint venture CSBC-DEME Wind Energy (CDWE) in the Taiwanese offshore wind market.
Huisman and Jan De Nul Group announce today that they have joined forces for the heavy lift equipment on board of Jan De Nul’s Next Generation offshore installation vessels Les Alizés and Voltaire. Upon the order of both vessels in 2019, Jan De Nul Group awarded the contract for the engineering, construction and delivery of two highly innovative cranes to Huisman.
For these cranes, which will be the largest in their class, Huisman developed the Universal Quick Connector (UQC) based on the expertise of Jan De Nul Group’s operational and engineering team. Huisman Geo signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with geothermal energy operating company Yeager Energy B.V. to collaborate in Yeager Energy’s development plans in the Nissewaard license area in the Netherlands. Goal is to make a significant contribution to the energy transition by efficiently developing and operating geothermal wells and innovative smart grid district heating, and cooling networks on a large scale.
Today Huisman announced that David Roodenburg, third generation of the Roodenburg family within the company, has been appointed by the Supervisory Board to become the new statutory CEO of Huisman. His father, Joop Roodenburg, has built the company from a regional player to a reputable multinational - a leader in heavy construction machinery. Joop Roodenburg is currently active as President, after he had appointed Theo Bruijninckx CEO in April 2018, with the objective to prepare the company for the next generation. Theo Bruijninckx will remain active in Huisman in his role as the company’s CFO.
Huisman has signed a contract with PaxOcean Engineering for the delivery of a 1,600mt Leg Encircling Crane. The crane will be installed on the new self-elevated platform (SEP) of Penta-Ocean Construction Co., Ltd. With this Huisman crane the new SEP will be capable to install 12 MW wind turbines and various foundations including monopiles. The SEP will be built by PaxOcean Engineering in Batam, Indonesia. The Huisman crane will be built in Huisman’s wholly owned production facility in Xiamen, P.R. of China. Delivery of the SEP is scheduled in 2022.
Schiedam, the Netherlands, 2 March 2020. Huisman announces today that it has signed a contract with Fred. Olsen Windcarrier for the delivery of a 1,600mt Leg Encircling Crane. Fred. Olsen Windcarrier is upgrading one of its jack-up vessels with this new crane, capable of installing foundations and all known next generation offshore wind turbines. With its upgraded crane, the vessel of Fred. Olsen Windcarrier will be capable of installing larger foundations and handling all known next generation turbines. Upon delivery in 2022, the unique 1,600mt Leg Encircling Crane will be the tallest in the market.
With this new Huisman Leg Encircling Crane, Fred. Olsen Windcarrier is equipped for the next generation wind turbines installation.
Today Huisman has announced that it has signed a contract with its partner Gravitricity from Edinburgh, UK, to deliver a 250kW gravity based grid stabilisation concept demonstrator. The Gravitricity system is designed to stabilise the utility power grid by means of lifting and lowering a weight, enabling competitive global green energy storage and discharge. The demonstration system will be built in Europe and is to be installed in the UK. The system is set to be operational by the end of 2020.
Huisman has been awarded a contract for the design, engineering, construction and delivery of a 5,000mt Tub Mounted Crane (TMC) on board Jan De Nul Group’s newest offshore installation vessel. The Huisman crane will be built in Huisman’s own production facility in Xiamen, P.R. of China and installed at the shipyard CMHI Haimen. The special features of the Huisman Tub Mounted Crane (TMC) allow the vessel of Jan De Nul Group to build offshore wind farms and also make the vessel extremely suitable for decommissioning offshore oil and gas platforms. The crane is set to be delivered in 2021.

We are pleased to announce that Huisman has signed a contract with Sirius Well Manufacturing Services (SWMS) for the delivery of a HM100 land drilling rig. The delivery consists of a fully operational rig including mud system and power generation. This mobile trailerised rig will be used to drill for coal bed methane that is subsequently converted to Liquified Natural Gas for exports in Australia, starting Q2 2020.
Offshore driller Noble Corporation and Huisman, successfully concluded the final tests of a newly designed automatic tripping system (autotripping) onboard ‘Noble Globetrotter II’ drillship. The new Huisman automatic tripping system further improves the efficiency and safety of the drilling process onboard. During the tests, the system’s performance was proven by tripping 30,000ft of drill pipe. Even in sea conditions with wave heights up to 6 meters, the system proved reliable.
Huisman has been awarded a contract for the design, engineering, construction and delivery of the main crane on Jan De Nul’s newest offshore wind turbine installation vessel ‘Voltaire’. The crane will be unique in its size, capacity and novel features to allow efficient installation of the next generation offshore wind turbines. The vessel will be built by COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry in China and the Huisman crane will be built in Huisman’s own production facility in Xiamen, P.R. of China and installed at the shipyard. With an unrivalled crane capacity of over 3,000 tonnes and an evenly unrivalled lifting height, this jack-up vessel will be able to support the renewable energy industry to build the future wind farms at sea.
On Friday 18 January, representatives of CMHI and Huisman witnessed the cutting ceremony of the DES Innovative Drilling System project at Huisman China. The Huisman innovative drilling system will be integrated and installed on the moored drilling semi-submersible constructed at CMHI Haimen. This drilling system will be used for oil and gas drilling activities in shallow to medium water depths all around Asia, particularly the South China Sea. It will be delivered in the second quarter of 2020 to CMHI Jiangsu Yard in China. Fabrication and final commissioning work will take place at Huisman China.
